Exercising an abundance of caution, we have established a new meal delivery protocol effective immediately. We are still delivering meals to our clients but will eliminate or minimize face to face contact using the recommended six feet of social distancing.
Clients will have to leave an appropriate cooler outside their delivery door where meals can be placed with no face to face contact. We will provide a cooler, if needed.
If outside is not possible, then a cooler should be left inside the delivery door where the meal will be placed. The client will be instructed to step away from the door at least six feet before our delivery volunteers can step inside the door.
Whether the meal will be left outside or inside, a chair or table should be utilized on which the meal can be placed to minimize the risk of falling.
While we have always believed that the face to face contact is very important, it is simply not safe until this health crisis is over. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
We are proud to participate in Subaru of America, Inc.’s annual Subaru Share the Love® Event to help raise critical funds needed to support our local seniors. When you purchase or lease a new Subaru this holiday season, we hope you’ll choose Meals on Wheels as the recipient of a $250 donation.
Exciting news! We are once again participating in the Subaru Share the Love Event. Over the past eleven years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver nearly 2.2 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.
This November 14, 2018, through January 2, 2019, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities. Meals on Wheels is one of four national participating charities and has been since the inception of the event. Through this event, as a member of Meals on Wheels America, will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold in New York.
Join us on Saturday, November 2 at Rhinebeck High School, as we participate in this upcoming event which has lots of great information, along with health care screenings and even an opportunity to shred those old papers!
We were fortunate to have Congressman Antonio Delgado from the 19th US Congressional District join us in delivering Meals on Wheels in Hyde Park and The Village of Rhinebeck on Monday, August 19. He got to see what we have been doing for almost 44 years and to meet some of our (and his) senior neighbors. THANK YOU, Congressman for spending some time with us. You are always welcome to join us when your schedule allows. Thanks also to Patti Irwin for providing the transportation in your new Subaru Ascent from Ruge’s Subaru!
Thank you to Katlynn Vanzandt owner and pastry chef of Katie Rose Bakery for her recent donation of delicious cupcakes. Our clients certainly appreciated her generosity (and the sweet treats!). More information about Katie Rose Bakery can be found on Facebook at this link.
