You can purchase multiple bouquets at a time and multiple times during the month. Thank you, Stop & Shop!
Exciting news! For the 13th year running, the Meals on Wheels network is participating in the 2020 Subaru Share the Love Event. Over the past twelve years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver more than 2.3 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.
Why does Subaru support Meals on Wheels? Too many seniors are struggling to stay independent and healthy. One in four seniors lives alone in isolation and one in seven seniors might not know from where their next meal is coming. This is simply unacceptable, which is why Organization Name provides the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to the seniors of area. This vital support keeps seniors in their own homes, where they want to be.
We’re incredibly grateful to Subaru and its Retailers for supporting our organization and the seniors we serve. With that in mind, we thought you might want to learn a little bit more about the Subaru Share the Love Event.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
This November 19, 2020, through January 4, 2021, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities.* Meals on Wheels is one of four national participating charities and has been since the inception of the event. Through this event, as a member of Meals on Wheels America, Meals on Wheels of Greater Hyde Park will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold at participating Subaru Retailers.
You might not be in the market to purchase a new car, but if you are, please look into the Subaru Share the Love Event to learn more. If you’re not shopping for a new vehicle, you can still help by spreading the word to your family and friends. A few quick and easy ways to do that:
- Share our posts about the Share the Love Event on Facebook: PROVIDE LINK. You can also do this on Twitter (@HANDLE) or Instagram (@HANDLE).
And remember: this holiday season you can ensure our senior neighbors are not forgotten, when you purchase or lease a new Subaru and select Meals on Wheels as your charity of choice.
*Disclaimer: Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 19, 2020, through January 4, 2021, to four national charities designated by the purchaser or lessee. Pre-approved Hometown Charities may be selected for donation depending on retailer participation. For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased during the campaign period, participating retailers will donate a minimum of $50 in total to their registered Hometown Charities. Purchasers/lessees must make their charity designations by January 15, 2021. The four national charities will receive a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 each. See your local Subaru retailer for details or visit subaru.com/share. All donations made by Subaru of America, Inc.
We are extremely grateful to have received a $5,000 grant from the John and Gloria Golden Fund for Hyde Park of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, a $1,000 grant from the Field Hall Foundation and an anonymous gift of $500 from a supporter all in response to the need to replace our freezer. This left us with less than $1,400 to pay for the purchase, delivery and installation of the new freezer. Mike “The Ice Mahn” also disposed of the old appliance as well as the installation.
This was a critical appliance for us to continue to deliver meals to our clients in the Hyde Park and Village of Rhinebeck communities during these challenging times. We serve a very vulnerable population and rely on support from the community for donations in order to keep our meal costs affordable. Because of the support received from our benefactors, the price for five hot, home-delivered meals has not increased since February 2011. Thank you very much!
Exercising an abundance of caution, we have established a new meal delivery protocol effective immediately. We are still delivering meals to our clients but will eliminate or minimize face to face contact using the recommended six feet of social distancing.
Clients will have to leave an appropriate cooler outside their delivery door where meals can be placed with no face to face contact. We will provide a cooler, if needed.
If outside is not possible, then a cooler should be left inside the delivery door where the meal will be placed. The client will be instructed to step away from the door at least six feet before our delivery volunteers can step inside the door.
Whether the meal will be left outside or inside, a chair or table should be utilized on which the meal can be placed to minimize the risk of falling.
While we have always believed that the face to face contact is very important, it is simply not safe until this health crisis is over. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Join us on Saturday, November 2 at Rhinebeck High School, as we participate in this upcoming event which has lots of great information, along with health care screenings and even an opportunity to shred those old papers!
We were fortunate to have Congressman Antonio Delgado from the 19th US Congressional District join us in delivering Meals on Wheels in Hyde Park and The Village of Rhinebeck on Monday, August 19. He got to see what we have been doing for almost 44 years and to meet some of our (and his) senior neighbors. THANK YOU, Congressman for spending some time with us. You are always welcome to join us when your schedule allows. Thanks also to Patti Irwin for providing the transportation in your new Subaru Ascent from Ruge’s Subaru!
