Exciting news! We are once again participating in the Subaru Share the Love Event. Over the past eleven years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver nearly 2.2 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.
This November 14, 2018, through January 2, 2019, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities. Meals on Wheels is one of four national participating charities and has been since the inception of the event. Through this event, as a member of Meals on Wheels America, will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold in New York.
Join us on Saturday, November 2 at Rhinebeck High School, as we participate in this upcoming event which has lots of great information, along with health care screenings and even an opportunity to shred those old papers!
We were fortunate to have Congressman Antonio Delgado from the 19th US Congressional District join us in delivering Meals on Wheels in Hyde Park and The Village of Rhinebeck on Monday, August 19. He got to see what we have been doing for almost 44 years and to meet some of our (and his) senior neighbors. THANK YOU, Congressman for spending some time with us. You are always welcome to join us when your schedule allows. Thanks also to Patti Irwin for providing the transportation in your new Subaru Ascent from Ruge’s Subaru!
Thank you to Katlynn Vanzandt owner and pastry chef of Katie Rose Bakery for her recent donation of delicious cupcakes. Our clients certainly appreciated her generosity (and the sweet treats!). More information about Katie Rose Bakery can be found on Facebook at this link.
Will Baylies of WKZE radio recently discussed the value of Meals on Wheels and the March for Meals campaign with our President, Mr. Jack Fenton. To listen, click the entry below, which has also been posted on the sidebar. We thank Will for his ongoing support of our organization!
The month of March mobilizes hundreds of local Meals on Wheels programs across the country to reach out to their communities and build the support that will enable them to serve America’s seniors all year long. The 17th annual March for Meals campaign gives local businesses, organizations, governments and volunteers who contribute so generously in their communities an opportunity to support homebound seniors in a variety of ways to make America stronger and healthier. This support helps us deliver nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to our local seniors all year long. By volunteering, donating or speaking out, you can ensure the seniors in your neighborhood can live more healthy, happy and independent lives at home, where they want to be. Stay tuned for more details on the exciting activities we have planned!
